NEWS of little import . . . . .

Things You Should Know:

If a jet is going fast enough, quick enough (0-2 seconds, 150 - 200 knots), it will NOT fall off the end of a carrier upon launch!

OK, right off the bat, I've gotta' tell Josh he lost out on the pot today ~ 10/26.  Bwa Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!  Happened to ME last month.  You know how misery loves company!??!  Oh, and Dave!  Dave Armstrong ~HA! - YOU won the pot on July 20th, but YOU weren't there!  Bwa Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

We had a brag from Dave Williams for Jim Norrgard, 'cause Jim was on the WINNING TEAM at the Brainiac Bowl last weekend!  Jim helped bring home the GLOWING BRAIN award to the Ace Hardware team.  Way to go, Jim!  Next time, you're on OUR team!  Dave said this year we just "didn't have the horsepower", but NEXT year we'll be ready!

Dave also had a supplementary check to Crossroads Safehouse.  We voted last week to buy a table at the upcoming Crossroads 32nd Anniversary Gala at the Hilton on Nov. 3.  At $150/person and 10 persons per table, that comes out to uh, a pretty nice check.  It was mentioned that anyone who wanted to add to it could, and Dave did that today.
In 2011, Crossroads grossed
grossed over $140,000 to provide safe shelter, food, clothing, and numerous supportive services for the families they serve!  Nice to know that we helped with that!

Conway Gandy had a birthday on October 3 ~ He was born in 1934, so YOU can figure it out.  He had a check for the Foundation that was so large though, it took TWO PEOPLE to carry it!

Jim Bernecker welcomes Lane Everitt (L) to the club
Our newest member is Lane Everitt (left).  Lane told us that he was born in CA, and moved to Ft. Collins when he was two, and has been here for 30 years.
He graduated in Sociology from CSU and got into real estate.  He found/married his wife Mollie while they were both working at C.B. & Potts 10 years ago.  They now have two boys, eight and five.
He tells us that "he loves what he does", 'cause it's all about relationships, integrity, and trust.  He loves to bike, camp, and ski, and thoroughly enjoys Colorado!

Florida Bird Flu

Larry Glass bragged on th' Princess - As many of us know, Nancy was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, and after the surgery, the doctors told Larry that she had just five years to live.
This year they celebrated Nancy's 25th year of survival on October 31st, and their 37th wedding anniversary, as well!  WOW!

Ron Young had a brag for Cliff Bergren, who was recognized as an
outstanding volunteer in our community.  First Lautzenheiser, now Cliff . . . . . Way to go, guys!!

Of course, when Cliff returns, he will have a fine waiting for him for not mentioning Sertoma during his moment of glory.
Cliff missed the meeting recently, Bernecker tells us, because he had his left knee replaced, with the right one soon to follow.  Jim says to give him a coupla' days to get off the morphine, and give him a call to congratulate.

Remember, our Tuesday morning coffee group is currently meeting at Whole Foods, still at 7:30 a.m. - and I'm told the coffee is MUCH better!

NO MEETING ON NOVEMBER 23rd ~ the day AFTER Thanksgiving!

Gary Ross had a brag ~ seems he bought two little calves about a year ago for about $900, all told.  He spent another $150 for grain, etc., and just sold the little guys for over TWO GRAND!!!

Next Board meeting is November 14th!! ~ the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

Jim Manning bragged that "he has returned from China", and returned with a T-Shirt that says "I have climbed the great wall"  (One of our crude, CRUDE members remarked "What was her name?", but I'm not going to tell you that.
Jim says he's not sure he'll ever go again, but that it was a "phenomenally delightful trip".
His wife, Beverly, took  2,632 pictures, so we have a fascinating program coming up!

Jim Nutt bragged that he was able to drive from the Ft. Collins - Loveland airport to the Greeley Stampede building WITHOUT STOPPING, and he drove 10 miles over the speed limit all the way.  Turns out he was following Paul Ryan in his van!  We'll have to get him to tell us the WHOLE story one day!

At this point, the meeting was interrupted by Ron Young looking for the flags for Rt 2 - it was at the meeting last week, but now it's missing, and the call went out "Has anybody seen it?"  Nobody had.  Have YOU?

Bill Green congratulated Jim Bernecker for doing a GREAT job of temporary Beer Czar!  Bill told us that it was a pretty miserable night for selling beer - windy and cold - but that WE did as good a job as could be done, in spite of seeming to be short on volunteers.  We made $350 in tips, compared with $860 during the first game.

We've had a Kula sighting ~ Bill Green came across Tom on 9/1.  I have come across him recently
at The Club, however, and he bears no resemblance to this sighting, with a full beard and face fuzz.  Tom
has moved into a different field, and travels a lot working with mortgage people, as I recall, to help prevent foreclosures.
He says he is "enjoying the change", and finds the new job fun & challenging.

At this point, the meeting was interrupted AGAIN, with Bob Kopplin (aka The Sheriff ) coming out of the little
storage room announcing "I found the flags!", so everyone can STOP LOOKING!

Our Christmas Social will be on Wednesday night, December 5th, at the Hilton, from 6 - 10.  It will be "similar" to last year's gala.  Ronny and Alli, and Th' Sheriff and his wife, April, are working together to get this shindig rolling. Ronny tells us he will be sending out information "this week".  He also tells us that if you saw the "event cancelled" notice on Facebook, don't worry about it.  It was just the flyer he was going to make that was cancelled, not the event.

Our local DA, Larry Abrahamson, had two brags:  1) As of Tuesday next week (election day), he will become the official Lame Duck.

2) The second brag will occur in a few months, on January 4th, when Larry is having a retirement party at The Rio, and

By the way, which is correct, "canceled" or "cancelled"?  Turns out they are BOTH correct - Canceled is American English and Cancelled is British or Canadian English.  But one "L" just looks wrong to me.

BOARD MEMBERS!  Remember that our Board Meeting is now on the second WEDNESDAY of the month!  We will meet on November 14th at The Fort Collins Board of Realtors, 110 W. Harvard.  Pat reminded everyone that the Board meeting is open to anyone who would like to come and see "how the sausage is made".  We're all pretty sure he meant "what goes on "behind the scenes".

Gary Ross, Projects V.P., tells us we have a project coming up in November for Crossroads.  It's not scheduled yet, since we'll be waiting for Cliff to get on his feet, so to speak, but it's a comin'.

This "mini-newsletter" has been brought to you by the letter "N", the 14th letter of the alphabet.

If you see THIS, signal flag, it is saying "N" - If you're into trains, N scale is 160:1 - OR, if you are a Denver Nuggets fan,
N will find Nuggets Dancers Final Audition
(click on it)  Kind of a boring letter, it seems.  Unless you ARE a Nuggets fan!  Na-Nu-Na-Nu!
